Position Summary

OPAL Fuels is seeking a Senior Accountant with strong U.S. GAAP expertise and experience and 4 Years experience operating within a multi entity public company environment. Reporting to the Manager General Accounting and based in our White Plains, NY headquarters, this role plays a key part in supporting our financial close, reporting accuracy, internal controls, and operational accounting excellence.
The ideal candidate is detail oriented, proactive, and naturally inquisitive—someone who seeks to understand the business context behind the numbers and provides well reasoned recommendations.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage construction cost accounting and controls, including monitoring budgets vs. actuals, reviewing project cost allocations, and ensuring proper capitalization and close out of construction projects.
  • Lead preparation and review of monthly bank reconciliations for cash and other general ledger accounts.
  • Oversee daily cash reporting, including review and approval of journal entries related to cash activity and cash receipts.
  • Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring timely and accurate recording of financial transactions across multiple entities.
  • Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial schedules; resolve complex reconciling items.
  • Maintain and strengthen accounting controls and documentation for SOX aligned environments.
  • Assist with intercompany transaction accounting, eliminations, and reconciliation of intercompany balances.
  • Support external audit activities through preparation of schedules, analysis, and documentation.
  • Conduct advanced accounting research and prepare technical memos as needed.
  • Participate in system enhancements, process improvement initiatives, and special projects as assigned.


Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting 
  • CPA track strongly preferred
  • 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within a public company or multi entity corporate environment.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and internal control best practices.
  • Advanced Excel skills; proficiency with ERP/accounting systems. Experience with Solomon (MS Dynamics) or NetSuite a strong plus.
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities and deliver results within deadlines.
  • Strong analytical thinking, communication skills, and professional judgment.
  • Experience supporting financial reporting for multi location operations preferred.
  • Proactive, collaborative mindset with the ability to partner effectively across the organization.


Work Hours and Arrangements
This position operates Monday–Friday during standard business hours. This role is expected to work on site at least 3 days per week. This requirement may change based on business needs.

Pay
The range for this role is anticipated to be $110,000-$120,000 annually with bonus for eligible positions. Where a specific pay range is noted, it is a good faith estimate at the time of this posting.  The actual salary offered will be based on experience, skills, qualifications, market / business considerations, and geographic location.
