Position Summary
The Human Resources Intern will support the HR team with day-to-day administrative activities, open enrollment coordination, recruiting support, employee file maintenance, and HR reporting. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented who is highly organized, comfortable working with confidential information, proficient in Microsoft Excel, and interested in using AI tools responsibly to improve efficiency and accuracy. The HR Intern will gain practical experience in core HR functions, including Open Enrollment support, recruiting coordination, employee recordkeeping, HR reporting, and administrative process improvement. This role offers exposure to a professional HR environment and the opportunity to build valuable skills in Excel, AI-enabled productivity, communication, confidentiality, and HR operations.

This internship is a part-time role required to be in the office three days per week, 9 am - 5 pm. The intern will work closely with the HR team and gain hands-on exposure to benefits administration, recruiting, employee records, compliance documentation, and HR operations.

Must be able to remain in a stationary position for an extended period.

Pay
The pay for this role is anticipated to be $20 hourly. Where a specific pay range is noted, it is a good faith estimate at the time of this posting. The actual salary offered will be based on experience, skills, qualifications, market / business considerations, and geographic location.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with annual Open Enrollment administration, including preparing materials, tracking employee submissions, updating benefit records, and data entry.
- Support recruiting activities by assisting with scheduling, coordinating candidate communications, and maintaining applicant tracking information.
- Maintain accurate employee records, personnel files, benefits documents, and compliance-related paperwork in both electronic and paper formats.
- Perform data entry, file audits, document scanning, filing, and general administrative support for the HR department.
- Create and update spreadsheets, reports, trackers, and dashboards using Microsoft Excel.
- Use AI tools appropriately to draft communications, summarize information, organize data, and improve administrative workflows while maintaining confidentiality and accuracy.
- Assist with onboarding tasks, including new hire paperwork, orientation preparation, employee checklists, and HR system updates.
- Help prepare HR communications, reminders, forms, and presentations for employees and managers.
- Support on other HR projects as needed
Qualifications and Skills
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, Communications, or a related field.
- Strong interest in Human Resources, recruiting, benefits administration, and employee support.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formatting, sorting, filtering, basic formulas, and data organization.
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to learn HR systems, applicant tracking tools, and AI-enabled productivity tools.
- Excellent attention to detail, organization, follow-through, and time management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.
- Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Experience with HRIS, applicant tracking systems, benefits portals, or employee database tools preferred.
- Familiarity with basic HR practices, employment forms, onboarding processes, or benefits administration preferred.
- Experience using AI tools to draft, summarize, organize, or analyze information in a professional setting preferred.
- Ability to create clean, accurate Excel trackers and simple reports preferred.
